Every listed rate and your calculation
Minutes = calls × average call length. Different callers = calls minus the estimated repeat calls. Use your phone log to replace these assumptions. Only count calls you would send to the service.
Costs exclude taxes, carrier fees, optional tools and human escalation. Calendar integration, staff permissions and your contract may require a different plan. Unknown overage prices remain open.
Choosing for your business
Upfirst and Dialzara can both be evaluated for a small-business phone front desk. Their billing units and the first plan with the required calendar action differ.
The short answer
Upfirst is a candidate when call-based billing and scheduling across listed plans fit your needs. Dialzara is a candidate when you prefer minute-based call flows and can manage usage or recharge conditions. Check the calendar tier before comparing prices.
Consider Upfirst when
You prefer a billable-call allowance and want to verify a named calendar connection without assuming the entry tariff is message-only.
Per-call pricing with scheduling and transfers on every listed plan.
Minute-based inbound plans, with calendar sync from Business Pro.
Typical buyer
Teams that prefer a call-based allowance over minute billing.
Owners who want configurable call flows and published extra-minute rates.
Before purchase
Only count forwarded, billable calls; spam and some very short calls are excluded. Extra AI agents cost $9.95 monthly; the estimate assumes one.
The page says a US number is included, while the FAQ lists number charges. Confirm before buying. Auto-recharge must be enabled or extra minutes purchased to avoid forwarding to voicemail at zero balance.

Assumptions: 3 minutes per call, 25% repeat calls, one business and monthly billing. Distinct callers round up. The calculator selects an eligible listed plan; it does not assume a missing overage price. Required known subscriptions are included; unknown totals stay unpriced. Taxes, carrier fees, optional extras and separate setup fees are excluded. These are cost models, not call tests or binding quotes.

Two businesses with 100 calls can have very different answered minutes. A call allowance makes duration less central to the arithmetic, while a minute allowance makes shorter calls cheaper to cover. Use at least a normal and a busy month to avoid selecting a tariff around an unusually quiet period.
Booking tiers are a material difference
Dialzara records calendar synchronization from Business Pro. Its lower minute package should not be treated as a booking equivalent. Upfirst documents scheduling across its listed plans and has named calendar evidence. In both cases, demonstrate the exact event fields and account permissions.
What happens when usage runs out?
Dialzara notes recharge or extra-minute purchasing conditions; a depleted balance can affect routing. Establish alert recipients and a fallback before forwarding live traffic. With Upfirst, verify the overage rate and billable-call exclusions. A low base price is only useful if the service behaves acceptably in a busy week.
Include number and agent charges
Dialzara has a recorded inconsistency between number-included wording and FAQ number charges. Upfirst notes separate charges for extra agents. Ask for the complete number of business identities, phone numbers and agents you need, rather than comparing one default configuration with another expanded one.
Use a pilot that reaches the limits
Test a transfer to an unavailable person and an appointment request outside business hours. Also inspect how the account warns about usage. These are practical acceptance criteria; we have not independently measured either provider under load.
