Shortlist products with documented ecommerce relevance. Compare order questions, returns, handoff and billing without treating every store connection as an enabled AI action.
Start with the shopper’s request
An ecommerce agent can be asked about product availability, delivery, a missing parcel, a return or a refund. These requests look similar in chat but rely on different data and permissions. A knowledge-base answer can explain the returns policy; a working return process must also identify the shopper and order, check eligibility and create or change a record.
The products shown initially have documented ecommerce relevance in our reviewed sources. This is a source-evidence shortlist, not a claim that every plan can perform every store action. Select the task you need and then inspect the exact provider and tariff. Unconfirmed requirements stay separate from supported product statements.
An ecommerce mention is not an order-management integration
Choose the storefront and support environment you will keep. A general mention of ecommerce does not establish a named Shopify connection, and a named connection does not establish refund authority. You may also need a returns app, subscription-management service or shipping platform with a separate account.
Gorgias documents that installing an app and connecting its available actions for AI use are separate steps. That is a useful purchasing distinction beyond a logo wall: ask for the exact read or write operation, its permission scope and what happens when the request is outside policy. The comparison does not infer that operation from a platform-level integration.
Keep the human exception path in the budget
A shopper can need a person after several AI replies. Decide where that work appears, which transcript and order context travel with it, and which team members require access. Otherwise an inexpensive AI allowance can sit in front of an unbudgeted inbox and a manual copying task.
Ticket-based helpdesks and outcome-priced agents also count escalations differently. A resolution fee should be read with its definition for human intervention, reopening and failed actions. Do not apply a headline automation percentage to your incoming order questions as if it were measured performance for your store.
Plan for both routine months and peaks
Use the inquiry presets to compare a quiet month, a normal workload and a peak period. The relevant price is the tariff covering that usage and team, including exact extra-usage charges only where reviewed. A larger included quota may be more economical than buying extra units; it can also be unnecessary if your support volume is low.
Keep seasonal inquiry volume separate from the number of store visitors or orders. Our 12-month AI budget repeats the selected workload at the current reviewed price. It is not a seasonal demand forecast or a full annual contract quote.
Questions before you choose
Can these agents process refunds automatically?
Some products document returns or refund-related actions, but exact-plan access, store permissions and approval limits still need confirmation. A policy answer or handoff is not the same as issuing a refund.
Should I choose a Shopify-specific agent?
A named store connection can matter more than a broad ecommerce label. Use the Shopify comparison when that is your platform and inspect the required helpdesk, operation and tariff.
Does cost per inquiry include my returns or shipping apps?
Only costs explicitly established by the reviewed quote can be included. Required external apps, channels and setup may still be outside the modelled AI component.
