A focused view of website-capable AI builders. Compare native allowances, human access and ownership of the support workflow before buying a low entry fee.
A website bot and a complete support desk are different purchases
For a small business, the simplest useful agent may answer common website questions and collect information for a person. A more ambitious setup might retrieve orders or change a customer record. Write down which of those jobs is essential before choosing an editor, model or quota.
This view initially shows products documented as builders with website support. That is a practical shortlist for a business configuring its own agent, not a claim that every small business should build. If you want a standalone service or helpdesk-based agent instead, use the complete category comparison and change the service type.
Budget for the people who will run it
Human workspace members, agent editors and the employees receiving escalations are not interchangeable seats. A plan can have ample usage while allowing too few people to maintain it. Conversely, an editor subscription can leave the customer-support inbox outside its scope.
The calculator checks documented human-member limits when selecting a tariff. Also decide who updates the source content, handles exceptions and approves sensitive actions. That ongoing ownership is a buying requirement; our database does not turn a marketing promise about quick setup into a measured implementation-time guarantee.
Low volume makes billing definitions more important
At a few hundred inquiries, choosing the wrong minimum plan or paying for an unnecessary helpdesk can matter more than a small difference in a credit rate. Start with your actual inquiries and team size, then compare the native billing unit and required software.
A free live-chat account, a one-time AI trial quota and a recurring AI allowance serve different purposes. We do not count introductory credits as a permanent free monthly plan. A builder’s credit count also needs its own model and workflow conversion before it can be presented as a number of inquiries.
Create a shortlist around one bounded task
For a first deployment, choose an answer or lookup flow with a clear handoff when information is missing. Define which source the answer should use and what the agent must not change. The provider’s documentation should establish the channel and action you need on the plan you are considering.
Use the same assumptions for every shortlisted product. Where a conversion is not documented, the comparison can show a published fee and an unknown inquiry estimate at the same time. That is a more useful distinction than ranking a partial fee as the cheapest complete support solution.
Questions before you choose
Is a free chatbot enough for a small business?
It depends on recurring AI capacity, member limits, the required task and the handoff path. An introductory allowance does not establish an ongoing free support service.
Do I need a developer?
Our builder label describes the product structure, not a verified implementation requirement. Check the exact workflow, connection and maintenance expectations for your team.
Why do some products have no inquiry price?
Their published credits or queries do not have a reviewed fixed conversion to inquiries, or another required condition is incomplete. You can inspect the fee and limits without inventing that conversion.

We aggregate attributed vendor prices and product statements. No independent product tests are claimed. The initial list uses the documented requirements for this page; exact-plan access and full required costs can remain unconfirmed. Each provider profile retains dated pricing and feature statements.
